Introduction

how botox and dysport work

Botox and Dysport are injectable neuromodulators that temporarily relax facial muscles to smooth lines and wrinkles.

Common treatment areas include the forehead, frown lines (glabella), and crow's feet. Dysport results are typically visible in 3-5 days, Botox in 7-10 days, with full effect at 2 weeks.

Results can last 3-4 months.

Additional treatments include lip flip and gummy smile correction at $80 flat rate.

At The Dose Collective in Boise, Idaho, Botox and Dysport are $12 per unit and all treatments are performed exclusively by Kelli Dougherty, BSN, RN.

tiny pinches, honestly

can last 3 to 4 months

everyone metabolizes differently, but most people come back 3 to 4 times a year. over time, you might need less. the muscles learn to chill.

real talk

who is a good candidate for botox

tap anything that sounds like you.

i see lines across my forehead when i raise my brows
i've got those two vertical lines between my brows
the crinkles around my eyes are starting to stick around
my upper lip disappears when i smile
i show more gum than i'd like when i smile
nothing major yet, but i'd rather get ahead of it
people ask me if i'm tired when i'm fully awake
i want something nobody would ever notice but me
honestly? i'm just curious what this could do

questions

botox and dysport faq

the stuff everyone asks.

most people say it's a tiny pinch. the needles are extremely small. some areas are more sensitive than others, but the whole thing takes about 15 minutes and most people are surprised by how easy it is.

not if it's done right. the frozen look comes from overtreating, and that's an injector problem, not a botox problem. kelli starts conservative, especially with new patients. you should still move your face, show expression, and look like you.

both are neuromodulators that temporarily relax muscles to smooth lines. different manufacturers, slightly different formulations. some people respond better to one than the other, and some notice dysport kicks in a day or two faster. kelli can help you figure out which one. pricing is the same for both.

there's no magic number. some people start in their early 20s for prevention, others in their 40s or 50s. preventative tox uses fewer units and can keep lines from setting in deeper over time. the best time to start is whenever it feels right for you.

wait at least 4 hours. avoid anything where you're bending over or upside down (yoga, heavy deadlifts) for 24 hours. walking is fine right away. main thing is don't touch or massage the treated areas.

it's temporary. lasts 3 to 4 months and wears off on its own. if you feel undertreated, kelli can add a few more units at a follow-up around the 2 week mark. you can always add more, but you can't take it away. that's why starting conservative is the move.
